The Catalyst

The Catalyst is Santa Cruz's legendary 800-capacity nightclub (plus a smaller Atrium), operating since 1976 — a room where Neil Young, Nirvana and Pearl Jam all played. Bookings mix nationally touring rock, reggae, hip-hop and electronic acts with club nights and comedy. Note: the property was sold in 2026 with demolition floated, though management says the club is operating through its lease.
