Monarch

Bi-level 300-cap gem hidden behind the Pawn Shop tapas bar at 6th and Mission. Upstairs is a moody art-deco cocktail lounge; downstairs is a basement dance floor with a custom Void Acoustics rig that regularly gets called one of the best-sounding small rooms in the country. House and its subgenres are the religion here (Miguel Migs, Carl Craig, David Harness). The neighborhood is gritty — stay aware walking in and out.
